France Trip Day 2

Day 2

The first night in Paris was not as cold as I thought it would be as our room was well heated. We had a great night’s sleep and rose at the crack of dawn. Our hotel does a breakfast in a nice underground dining room with stone brick walls. Although it was expensive, we decided to go with it. If I was paying high prices, I was determined to take my fair share of croissants… after all, I need fuel to keep me going. It was quite a good breakfast in the end. They had all your typical French cheeses (which are very cheap here), yoghurts, fruit, croissants, etc. Je suis very full.

The day’s itinerary is Disneyland or Parc Disney if you are French.  We decided that after doing the Paris foot tour, the next day would be our tacky tourist day… hence, Disneyland. Apparently it gets more tourists than the Eiffel tower, and is actually the number 1 tourist spot in Europe, so it is really quite prestigious if you look at it that way. We wanted to get out there as soon as possible but as usual, had a few visa credit card issues along the way. Not to worry, I’m starting to become an old hand at these things and the problem was solved shortly.

Parc Disney was like everything in France: Extremely cold. However as the park is so big, there aren’t as many wind breakers as the city. I’m sorry I keep going on about the cold, but well… it’s all I can think about. It was tough going, but we had a great day, going on most of the rides we could. As today was tacky tourist day, Erin was determined to find a Dagwood Dog somewhere in the park… but sadly, she couldn’t.

We even saw Buzz Lightyear himself. At Parc Disney there are so many merchandise stores so you can buy anything Disney you want… Mickey Mouse G-Strings for example. However the main purpose of these stores we found, was to provide freezing tourists with a heat source and a place where they can congregate. We probably spent more time in the stores than on the rides… I didn’t buy anything though.

By the end of the trip we were exhausted again. We thought we would go back to the hotel for half an hour before getting something for dinner. Three hours later we woke up and decided that we wouldn’t bother with dinner as we were still full on croissants from breakfast.
